A sweet and engaging story about Butterball the poodle, who goes on a misadventure after digging her (or his?) way out of her yard. She meets new friends, learns some facts about rabbits and kangaroos, and eventually makes her way back home with the help of a friendly owl. Includes some great questions at the end for reinforcing recall and comprehension.

Oh no! Butterball gets lost, is a tender book about Butterball's adventure into the unknown. Julia Seaborn has happily put Fun Facts about barn owls in the back and questions about the story. I highly recommend this enjoyable book about Butterball's adventure when he meets new friends.
Butterball is left home alone and decides to dig a hole under the fence. She takes her ball and off and goes to have an adventure. She goes down a path and sees a hole. Butterball goes down into the hole. Oops! She gets stuck! What will she do? I wonder what will happen? I need to go and finish the book. I need to know. How about you?

Finding a Way Back Home
This is a terrific story about a dog who digs her way out of the yard, one day. While she is out, running around town, she gets into some pretty humorous jams!
Butterball also learns a lot that day, and makes a few new friends. For instance, the rabbit who pulls her out of a hole she gets stuck in. My absolute favorite part of this book is the expression of surprise on the lizards faces while she is stuck. Luckily, near the end of the story, an owl helps her find the way home.
Examine each page carefully, there is a memory quiz at the end!

Yay, great to see another book in the series, gee Butterball seems to get up to a lot of mischief. Need to keep a tighter leash and maybe dingo proof the fence.  Great children’s book, look forward to the next instalment.

This book is adorable! I read it to my niece and she absolutely loved it. She loved learning about different animals from around the world and what their differences are. Butterball has a great adventure and some near misses too that keeps the reader wanting to turn the page. There's also a great interactive feature at the end with a list of fun questions about the story that would help a child's memory and recall the important incidents throughout the story. I really loved this book. I would highly recommend it.

Butterball is a fun story about a dog who digs under her fence and gets lost on a wild adventure. She meets up with other animals that help her out of her misadventures. The Book is great read to children and talk about the colors and other animals, there is also number recognition, discussion about the animal differences, how they move around, and then there are 12 questions to ask the children and answer after the story. This is a good story to read to a group or for a child to read alone.

This is the marvelous second installment of the Butterball the Poodle series and it is quite enjoyable. Butterball is left on her own as her Mummy runs some errands. She digs under the fence in her yard and starts an adventure that leads her far from home. Much like her day at the beach in the first book, along the way she makes new friends and learns fun facts about the other animals in her world.

The art is colorfully engaging and it complements the story format well. This is a great story to read to little ones as it also offers new knowledge about animals, some color and counting practice along with a subtle moral about making good choices. At the end of the story, again like "Butterball Goes to the Beach", children are encouraged to participate through a series of questions and fun activities. This is the perfect story for a group read or classroom circle time.

Butterball Gets Lost by Julia Seaborn is a children’s picture book about a poodle named Butterball, with illustrations by Toby Mikle. After Butterball is left home alone when her owner goes shopping she digs under the fence and goes exploring. Butterball then sees an interesting hole and looks inside where she gets stuck. This is when the cute little bunny named Binky helps set her free. After Binky helps her get free, Butterball continues on and meets JillaRoo, a kangaroo. Later, Butterball ends up at the circus and realizes she doesn’t know the way home. Will someone be able to help her find her way home?

Butterball Gets Lost is able to capture the feel of adventure and exploration in a short picture book. The artwork was beautiful, with a soft color pallete and simple art, it easily captures your attention and inspires the imagination. I liked the illustrations, especially the colorful lizards and other animals that Butterball meets along the way. These creatures were all emotive and usually happy. This book teaches young readers about animals and counting while entertaining children with a fun story. The questions at the end of the story help children practice counting and assess comprehension. I appreciated the Fun Facts at the end of the book which provides more information about owls, although this section might require a slightly more advanced reading level than the story.

Butterball Gets Lost is the second book in the Butterball the Poodle series. This is a fantastic continuation in Julia Seaborn’s children’s literature series. Beginning readers will be entertained and educated all in one book.

Butterball Gets Lost is part of the Butterball series – about a poodle who is the same colour as butter.
The illustrations are simple and colourful – and very much in keeping with the target audience of younger children.
The story is busy and engaging. A lot happens and this really kept my little boy interested.
Starting with Butterball digging under the fence, the poodle gets herself into a few sticky situations. She gets stuck in a rabbit hole, ruins a circus performance and then gets lost! Fortunately, Butterball is very good at making friends, and throughout the story you meet new characters who are always keen to help her out.
The story is pitched well at young children, is entertaining and funny. Recommended!
