Cute story with fun pictures about Butterball, a lovely poodle. The book includes a learning element such as colors. Fun bonus questions and information about Santa Claus at the end of the book. Looking forward to more Butterball books in the series.

This is another cute story in the Butterball series. It's Christmas time and Butterball is looking forward to getting a gift. After accidentally knocking over the Christmas tree, Butterball worries she'll be put on Santa's naughty list. Read this cute story to see what happens.

Butterball’s Christmas Surprise follows the life of an adorable poodle as she prepares for Christmas. Butterball goes shopping, decorates a tree, and goes to the groomer to get ready for the big day. Butterball gets into mischief along the way, but does her best to show her mummy that she’s a good dog and is rewarded with a special visit from Rudolph and Santa.
This is an adorable holiday picture book that is perfect for young readers who are advancing to stories with full sentences and paragraphs. There are no difficult words, but word repetition will help develop reading comprehension and confidence.
Each character is doe eyed and very cute. The illustrations cover each page with a soft color palette and simple yet emotive graphic art. Readers are given a challenge at the beginning of the story to find 12 Christmas Candy Canes throughout the story ensuring that readers will be fully engaged with this entertaining book. I haven’t read any of the books in the Butterball the Poodle series prior to this one, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I enjoyed this story.
This was a fun Christmas story. Butterball talks and the humans can understand including her Mummy and Santa. This was quite magical.
As well as the story, there is an educational element, showing children what different colours are, counting decorations on the tree, and more. As these are part of the story, many kids won’t realise they’re learning something as they read, always a bonus.
At the end of the book, there are some questions about the story that parents and children can discuss as well as information about Santa and a link to some fun Christmas activities.
If you’re looking for a fun Christmas story and a story that features a cute dog, then this is one for you.

The author created a sweet holiday story. Butterball is an adorable poodle. He loves counting and identifying colors. Santa rewards Butterball with lots of gifts on Christmas for being such a good dog.
The book also includes questions at the end which are great for discussing with your child, and a short history lesson on Santa Claus. A great addition to your holiday book collection! Ho,ho,ho!

"Butterball's Christmas Surprise" is a very cute story about a poodle who wants to help decorate the Christmas tree that she helped pick out. As Butterball decorates the tree, there are lessons for the reader in counting and colors (which is spelled colours since the book is written in British English). There is a little mishap with the tree but Butterball's Mummy is not mad. Mummy tells Butterball to behave and then she'll get a surprise. Butterball is good at the groomer's and gets to go visit Santa!
There are questions at the end of the story to help kids with reading comprehension presented in a fun way to enhance learning. There is also a section on the history of Santa Claus.
There is also a fun search and find for candy canes throughout the book.
This would be a cute story for parents to read with their children around ages 4-6.

Butterball is a poodle, with fluffy yellow fur the color of butter, who enjoys Christmas shopping and decorating their home. She is slightly mischievous and creates some mishaps!
Butterball and her owner go on several adventures, including a trip to the groomers so Butterball can look nice for her upcoming surprise.
Many words may be difficult for beginning readers. However, with encouragement and just a little stretching, they should be able to read the story.
The sketches of festive holiday displays in stores and at home are attractive. The style is perfect for young readers and younger listeners to enjoy.
